Municipality

In the heart of the Valais, on a hillside on the left bank of the RhĂ´ne Valley, the commune of Nendaz offers generous, often panoramic views of the Alps and the RhĂ´ne Valley. Crowned by magnificent peaks, the area offers nature lovers an immense space of freedom, stretching from the RhĂ´ne plain (Aproz) to the highest peak (Rosablanche 3336 m).

The commune is made up of some fifteen villages and hamlets, inhabited by a total of 7,000 people.

Haute-Nendaz (1360 m), its tourist center, is full of shops and restaurants, with all the facilities of a "small town" while remaining a mountain resort. The commune's high population and the large number of tourists and/or second-home owners ensure that the village is a pleasant and often lively place to live.

The resort offers direct access to the famous 4 Vallées ski area, with its 410 km of ski runs and itineraries, and its highest point, Mont-Fort, at 3330 m. Winter sports are king here, and will satisfy beginners and experts alike, both on and off the slopes. Events such as the Nendaz-Freeride or the Verbier Extreme (at Mont-Fort) punctuate the quieter weeks of the season.

The village is home to a number of shops, as well as nursery and elementary school.

Summer is a great time for walkers, with a unique network of bisses (98 km) offering walks for all levels. Hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers can take advantage of the countless itineraries available from the plains to the glaciers, through orchards or forests, on alpine roads or rocky paths, along mountain lakes or up to the highest peaks. In July, Nendaz is transformed into the capital of Alphorn music, with its international festival.

The resort of Nendaz is constantly evolving to meet the expectations of its many tourists, with innovative alpine constructions. In recent years, for example, the 4* Hotel des 4 Vallées and its exceptional spa (2200 m2 in total) have been opened to the public, as has the recently opened Mad Retreat, offering a haven of peace in a complex of small luxury chalets, with spa and treatments, also open to the public
